WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Elect Democratic Women, the congressional member-led political action committee dedicated to increasing the number of Democratic women in Congress and higher office, announced its endorsement of Jackie Gordon for New York’s 2nd Congressional District.
“Elect Democratic Women is proud to endorse Jackie Gordon for New York’s 2nd Congressional District. Jackie is a trailblazer and an inspiring public servant. First, she served our country as an Army combat veteran, then she served her community as an educator and the first Black woman to sit on the Town Council in Babylon, NY. Her commitment to service is extraordinary, and we look forward to working with her in Congress,” said Rep. Lois Frankel (D-F), chair of Elect Democratic Women.
“I’m proud to receive the endorsement of Elect Democratic Women. As a mom, a veteran, and an educator, I’m running for Congress to stand up for Long Island’s women and working families. Together, we can protect reproductive rights, lower the cost of prescription drugs, and make our economy work for everyone,” said Gordon.
Elect Democratic Women was formed in 2018 by Democratic members of Congress with the purpose of electing more Democratic women to Congress. The PAC has expanded its reach to support Democratic women running for higher office. Chaired by Rep. Lois Frankel (D-FL), the Board includes Congressional Black Caucus Chair Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH), Rep. Julia Brownley (D-CA), Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL), Assistant Speaker Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA), Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), Rep. Annie Kuster (D-NH), and Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA).
