Elect Democratic Women Endorses Former Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell for U.S. Senate in Florida

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Elect Democratic Women (EDW), the only Congressional member-led committee dedicated to electing more Democratic women to Congress, announced its endorsement of former Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell for U.S. Senate in Florida.

“Elect Democratic Women is incredibly proud to endorse our former colleague Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell for her bid to represent Florida in the U.S. Senate. Immigrating from Ecuador as a teenager, Debbie made history by becoming the first South-American born immigrant to serve in Congress and has always been a strong advocate for policies that uplift women and their families. Debbie wrote a bipartisan measure to expand seniors’ Medicare coverage and provided much needed economic relief to small businesses. She fought to secure her own American Dream and will fight for Florida’s families to be able to do the same.” said Rep. Lois Frankel (D-FL), chair of Elect Democratic Women.

“Senator Rick Scott has failed Floridians time and again. He wrote the plan to raise taxes on the middle class and end Social Security and Medicare, all while targeting women’s reproductive rights,” said Representative Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. “I’m deeply honored to have the endorsement of Elect Democratic Women, and look forward to working with them as my House colleagues to protect rights for women and their families and to defend Social Security and Medicare.”
