Elect Democratic Women Congratulates Andrea Salinas, Val Hoyle, Valerie Foushee, and Cheri Beasley on their Historic Primary Wins

Washington, DC — Today, Elect Democratic Women (EDW), the only member-led political action committee focused solely on electing more women to Congress, congratulates EDW-endorsed candidates Andrea Salinas, Val Hoyle, Valerie Foushee, and Cheri Beasley on their historic primary victories.

“My colleagues and I are thrilled that we’re one step closer to seeing these amazing women join us in the Congress. Andrea, Val and Valerie have remarkable track records of working to improve the lives of women and families, and we know they’ll make a big impact as our future House colleagues. Cheri’s candidacy for Senate is inspiring and we are excited to help elect another outstanding woman to the Senate. We look forward to doing all that we can to see that they are successful again in November,” said Rep. Lois Frankel, Chair Elect Democratic Women.

Oregon: State Representative Andrea Salinas won the primary for the newly drawn 6th congressional district despite $11.4M spent on behalf of one of her eight opponents. EDW invested $25,000 to support Salinas, teaming up with BOLD PAC for a GOTV program in the last week of the race.

Oregon Labor Commissioner, Val Hoyle, successfully cleared the primary in Oregon’s 4th district where she earned the endorsement of retiring member, Rep. Peter DeFazio.

North Carolina: In North Carolina, State Senator Valerie Foushee successfully won the Democratic primary in the 4th congressional district to replace retiring member, Rep. David Price.

Former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Cheri Beasley won the primary for U.S. Senate in North Carolina. Beasley was the first Black woman to lead the court in North Carolina, and if successful, would be only the third Black woman to serve in the U.S. Senate.
