WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Elect Democratic Women (EDW), the Congressional Member-led committee dedicated to electing Democratic women to Congress, congratulated JoAnna Mendoza on officially becoming the Democratic nominee for Arizona’s 6th Congressional District. AZ-06 is a top pickup opportunity for Democrats this cycle, and JoAnna is headed to the general election to flip this critical seat and deliver for Arizonans.
“Elect Democratic Women congratulates JoAnna Mendoza on officially earning the Democratic nomination for Arizona’s 6th Congressional District,” said Liz Gallagher, Executive Director of Elect Democratic Women. “JoAnna spent 20 years in the Navy and Marine Corps, deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan and leading troops as a drill instructor. She knows what it means to serve, and she’s ready to bring that same discipline to Congress. We are confident that she will fight to bring down costs, protect veterans’ benefits, and hold Juan Ciscomani accountable for putting his party ahead of his district. Elect Democratic Women is all in to support JoAnna and flip this seat in November.”
JoAnna Mendoza is a retired Marine, a mom, and a native Arizonan. Raised by farmworker parents in a rural community, she joined the Navy at 17 and went on to serve more than 20 years in the Navy and Marine Corps, including combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and service as a drill instructor. After returning home to Arizona, she continued a life of service working with veterans and her community.
