Elect Democratic Women Endorses Allyson Muñiz Damikolas in California’s 40th Congressional District

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Elect Democratic Women (EDW), the only Congressional member-led committee dedicated to electing more Democratic women to Congress, announced its endorsement of Allyson Muñiz Damikolas in California’s 40th Congressional District.

“The Elect Democratic Women board is proud to endorse Allyson Muñiz Damikolas’ campaign for California’s 40th district. Allyson is a mother, engineer, and local leader who knows how to get things done. When her daughters were diagnosed with a life-threatening condition, Allyson fought insurers to make sure they got the health care they needed. Allyson will stand up for her community as she did for her family. We know that her tenacity will make her an effective leader in Congress for women and families,” said Rep. Lois Frankel (D-FL), Chair of Elect Democratic Women. “We are looking forward to supporting her race and serving with her in Congress.”

“It is an honor to earn the endorsement of Elect Democratic Women. I’m used to breaking down barriers and fighting hard to get things done. Whether it was getting a degree in engineering, fighting for my daughters’ health care, or being the first Latina Democrat elected to the Tustin Unified School Board, I will never stop,” said Allyson Muñiz Damikolas. “Now more than ever, the people of Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties need someone who will stand up to Republicans to protect women and their families, and I promise to be that person.”

Elect Democratic Women was formed in 2018 by Democratic members of Congress with the purpose of electing more pro-choice Democratic women to Congress and higher office. We believe that democracy is best served by a diverse Congress that reflects the people they represent.

The Executive Board is made up of six sitting members of Congress: Chair Lois Frankel, Rep. Joyce Beatty, Rep. Julia Brownley, Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, Rep. Annie Kuster, and Rep. Norma Torres.
