WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Elect Democratic Women (EDW), the only Congressional Member-led committee solely dedicated to electing Democratic women to Congress, announced its endorsement of Julie Lythcott-Haims for California’s 16th Congressional District.
“Julie is a community driven leader who has dedicated her career to public service. As an educator, lawyer, and Stanford Dean, she has built strong coalitions and has the skills necessary to be an effective Representative in Congress,” said Rep. Lois Frankel (D-FL), Chair of Elect Democratic Women. “Julie has been a champion for affordable housing, increased access to mental health care for our youth, and tackling climate change. We know that Julie will bring her passion to Congress to protect women’s reproductive freedom and EDW is proud to endorse her candidacy.”
“I’ve spent my career in service of humans of all backgrounds, and delivering real, progressive results for the communities and organizations I’ve served. All Californians deserve a Representative who listens to and serves them, not corporate PACs or special interests. That’s why I haven’t taken a dime of corporate PAC or special interest money. I’m also listening to, and speaking on behalf of, Californian women. Women are half the population in this country, but make up only 29% of Congress. We can, and must, do better than that. Representation matters. Women’s experiences matter. That’s why I’m honored to have the endorsement of Elect Democratic Women, and am looking forward to working alongside them,” said Julie Lythcott-Haims.

Elect Democratic Women was formed in 2018 by Democratic Members of Congress with the purpose of electing more pro-choice Democratic women to Congress and higher office. We believe that democracy is best served by a diverse Congress that reflects the people they represent.
