Elect Democratic Women Endorses Missy Cotter Smasal for Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Elect Democratic Women (EDW), the Congressional Member-led committee dedicated to electing Democratic women to Congress, announced its endorsement of Missy Cotter Smasal for Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District.

”Missy has a profound grasp of the needs of families across Coastal Virginia, drawing on her background as a veteran, a small business owner, and a mother of two young children. Beyond her military service, she has actively dedicated herself to promoting school safety, a cleaner environment, and women’s rights in her community, ” said Rep. Julia Brownley (D-CA), Elect Democratic Women Board Member. “We have unwavering confidence that Missy will carry on the fight for a clean environment for future generations, women’s reproductive freedom, and all policies aimed at empowering families. It is with great pride that EDW extends its endorsement to Missy’s candidacy.”

“I am thankful to have earned the endorsement of Elect Democratic Women. I am running for Congress to ensure that kids and families across Coastal Virginia have the opportunities they need to succeed. The members of Elect Democratic Women are focused on building a better future for families across our country and I look forward to working with EDW to win in November,” said Missy Cotter Smasal.

Elect Democratic Women was formed in 2018 by Democratic members of Congress with the purpose of electing more pro-choice Democratic women to Congress and higher office, based on the understanding that democracy is best served by a diverse Congress that reflects the people they represent.
