WASHINGTON, DC – Elect Democratic Women (EDW), the Congressional Member-led committee dedicated to electing Democratic women to Congress, announced its endorsement of Shannon Taylor for Virginia’s 1st Congressional District.
“Shannon Taylor has spent her career protecting her community. As a prosecutor and Commonwealth’s Attorney, she’s taken on tough fights to tackle crime, protect victims, and keep Virginians safe. Now she’s running for Congress to continue that work—lowering costs, rooting out corruption, and making healthcare more affordable. Elect Democratic Women is proud to endorse Shannon’s campaign and is confident she’ll bring her integrity, determination, and no-nonsense approach to Washington,” said Rep. Lois Frankel, Chair of Elect Democratic Women.
“For the past 12 years as Henrico’s top prosecutor, I’ve worked to keep families safe—putting away violent offenders, drug traffickers, and fraudsters,” said Shannon Taylor. “When I was elected in 2011, I became the first woman and first Democrat in nearly 25 years to hold the job. I’ve led efforts to support survivors of human trafficking, combat the opioid crisis, and get illegal guns off our streets. And when Roe v. Wade was overturned, I was one of the first prosecutors in the nation to stand up for the right to abortion care. In Congress, I look forward to working alongside Elect Democratic Women to advance policies that help hard-working families make ends meet.”
