Elect Democratic Women Shows Record-Breaking Momentum, Raises More Than $10M and Releases New Video

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Elect Democratic Women (EDW), the Congressional Member-led committee dedicated to electing more pro-choice Democratic women to Congress, announced that it has raised over $10M during the 2023-2024 cycle, already surpassing last cycle’s $9.6M with 3 months to go before election day.

Along with EDW’s strong fundraising numbers, the organization has recently released a video highlighting the organization’s mission and the women Members they’ve helped elect. The video includes the current EDW Board Members, founding Board Member Whip Clark, and eight other Members that EDW has supported.

“Women, not politicians, should be in charge of their own personal health care decisions and the right to reproductive freedom must be protected for all women in every zip code. One of the top priorities of the MAGA Republican Project 2025 plan is to roll back women’s rights. But we won’t let them. Our record-breaking fundraising is a testament to the voters who have supported us. They know what’s at stake and they know women candidates are the path to victory. It’s clear that we must take back control of the House, hold the Senate, and elect Kamala Harris as our first woman President. We can do it with our remarkable women candidates winning their elections,” said Elect Democratic Board Chair, Rep. Lois Frankel.

In addition to EDW’s fundraising success, EDW-endorsed candidates and incumbents posted impressive fundraising hauls last quarter. All 16 Frontline women Members of Congress far outraised their Republican challengers and are in strong financial positions heading into the final stretch of the election year. The women Frontline Members raised an astounding average of $1.14M last quarter and have an average of $2.7M cash on hand.

Additionally, EDW-endorsed candidates showed strong fundraising success in their efforts to flip competitive seats from red to blue and take back the House majority. The following candidates outraised their sitting GOP incumbent opponent:

  • Kirsten Engel (AZ-06) outraised Rep. Juan Ciscomani
  • Jessica Morse (CA-03) outraised Rep. Kevin Kiley
  • Christina Bohannan (IA-01) outraised Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks
  • Sue Altman (NJ-07) outraised Rep. Tom Kean Jr.
  • Laura Gillen (NY-04) outraised Rep. Anthony D’Esposito
  • Janelle Bynum (OR-05) outraised Rep. Lori Chavez DeRemer
  • Janelle Stelson (PA-10) outraised Rep. Scott Perry

So far this cycle, EDW has made 44 active endorsements, including 16 incumbent Members in the most competitive House districts, 27 candidates running for Congress and higher office, and VP Kamala Harris for President. EDW has also made $1.29M worth of early investments including contributions to Members, candidates, the DCCC, and the Harris campaign.
